inclusion.The Director of Clinical Applications is responsible for
the development, implementation, and support of information
technology for core oncology and oncology research applications,
clinical ancillary and supportive care applications and modules
across Fred Hutchison Cancer Center. Systems include but not
limited to Epic Enterprise EHR, Ancillary Radiology, and Laboratory
information Systems, and Digital Health solutions.The Director is a
key member of the IT Leadership team and must possess a strong
knowledge of IT, applications, and project management.
Understanding the organization's needs is a major part of this role
and requires a thorough understanding of healthcare operations,
both ambulatory and inpatient.The Director will oversee the
integrated governance, strategic direction, operating plans,
financial management, talent management, application lifecycle and
portfolio management, regulatory compliance and oversight, and
customer service and relationship management with key clinical, and
operational leaders for the aligned
applications.Responsibilities
- Key IT Leader responsible for planning, implementing, and
managing assigned enterprise applications
- Work with clinic and physician leadership and governance
committees to facilitate strategic use of clinical applications and
supporting technologies in alignment with organizational priorities
and initiatives
- Works with IT colleagues and team members to translate strategy
into achievable project and operating work plans
- Provides direction for the development, delivery, and support
of the standardization, normalization, and delivery of data in
clinical or business systems across the enterprise.
- Provides the adult oncology and research communities with
professional support in matters relating to operational, and
clinical process improvements that require application
selection/development, acquisition, implementation, support
services, and resource utilization
- Integrates and builds effective and positive working
relationships between IT teams and other areas of the organization
to ensure needs and expectations of the end-user community are
met
- Oversees the analysis of user needs, identification of
application integration requirements, implementation of new
applications, upgrades of existing applications, support of
application performance and functionality, documentation of
procedures, and training of end-user community
- Knowledge of CMS interoperability and ONC regulatory
requirements; implements workflow and technology enhancements;
knowledge of and participation in adhering to HIPAA and
cybersecurity regulations, participates in audit and compliance
activities and events
- Establishes and monitors KPI performance across the application
portfolio and support processes
- Manages the application portfolio, monitors and mitigates risk
of portfolio and projects.
- Manages and monitors the capital and operating budgets for
application portfolio and projects along with managing and
monitoring vendor and contract performance terms
- Lead and/or participate in Technology Governance committees
spanning across organizations and strategic partnerships (Community
Sites, UW, Fred Hutch Research and Seattle Children's
alliance)
- Collaborate with IT Leadership team and HR/Recruiting to
recruit, manage, develop and retain talented employees
- Manage and monitor work processes and systems that are related
to retaining and developing a high-performing
workforceQualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related
field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in healthcare information
technology, with at least 7 years of direct management experience.
7+ years of experience managing a suite of clinical and business
systems across diverse and complex clinical environments. 5+ years
practical experience implementing and supporting Epic and ancillary
clinical applications. Program development and Oncology leadership
experience preferred.
- Advanced understanding of clinical operations (e.g.,
ambulatory, inpatient, pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology
services)
- Demonstrated experience in best practices and leading complex
and advanced application solutions
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication
skills with the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and
concisely to a variety of audiences
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency with standard business
software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project (or
Smartsheet)Preferred
- Epic Certification. PMP Certification.

annual base salary range for this position is from $178,007 to
$296,628 and pay offered will be based on experience and
qualifications.This position may be eligible for relocation
